Teaching the Art and Sharing the Joy...of Dance!
Kinetics Academy of Dance opened in Chico Ca. in 2001 with just seven students. In the years since, our dance studio has grown to over 350 students. Our owner Hayley Horn, has over 28 years of teaching experience and a staff of nine instructors with decades of teaching experience as well. Kinetics philosophy of teaching is unique in that we emphasize the whole child. Owner, Hayley Horn is a licensed Physical Therapist and is well acquainted with the correct developmental levels of each age group. We are interested in the social and emotional abilities of our students, as well as their dance technique. We encourage all dancers to allow their joy and individuality to shine through their dancing. You will find Kinetics to be a very encouraging and supportive place to be!
At Kinetics, students take class from highly creative and innovative instructors. Our dance classes emphasize creativity, using props and costumes with the younger children and transitioning into more technique as students are developmentally ready. As students advance, the creative approach shifts to opportunities for guided, then independent, choreography.
We feel it is of utmost importance that all students are taught technique that is consistent with their developmental level. Our curricula were created by, and are supervised by, a licensed Physical Therapist to ensure safety and injury prevention. We also believe that kids should be kids, therefore our dance classes are always age appropriate. Our Hip-Hop lessons have caused many a parent to breathe a sigh of relief as they realize their child can pursue these styles without fear of inappropriate movements or bad lyrics!
Dance is a performance art! To that end, we provide several performance opportunities each year. Our major event is our annual 'Summer Performance' which is held at the Center for the Arts at PV High School This is a very big event that event which nearly sells out each year. It is a marvelous opportunity for the dancers to perform in a real theater, with a full tech team and a large audience. The dancers love it as much as the audience!! We also schedule smaller performances throughout the year at venues such as 'Windchime' assisted living , 'Sycamore Glen' retirement home, Johnny Appleseed Days and the Chico Mall.
